Columbus Recreation and Parks Department in partnership with Mayor Coleman’s Twilight Ride welcomes local Latin jazz favorite Yumbambé to Bicentennial Park on Fri., July 12 at 8 p.m. for a free performance as part of the Rhythm on the River series. Food and beverages will be available for purchase beginning at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free.Yumbambé is Latin Jazz, bringing together the lush sound of jazz harmony with the vibrant rhythms of Afro-Cuban drumming. Lead by Eric "the FISH" Paton, Yumbambé floats the greats of the Jazz standard collection on the tide of Latin rhythm and culture that has splashed the shores of popular music for decades. The arrangements are presented in a diverse collection of rhythms including meringue, calypso, bembe, cha cha, samba and bossa nova. Columbus Recreation and Parks Department welcomes the quintessential live band, Rusted Root, to Bicentennial Park on Fri., Aug 16 for a free performance as part of the Rhythm on the River series. The evening of music will begin at 7 p.m. with Angela Perley & The Howlin’ Moons, followed by a live performance by Rusted Root at 8:30 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase beginning at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free.Formed in the early 90’s by singer/guitarist Michael Glabicki, Rusted Root’s worldly style quickly charmed fans of roots music and world rock. To date they have released seven albums and sold over three million records worldwide.
